Most of the numbers a business decides by live in spreadsheets, and most of those spreadsheets were never planned. They grew one tab at a time. We build them the way software is built, with a clear layout, consistent formulas, checks that prove the sums and notes that explain them, so the figures can be trusted and someone new can pick up the file safely.
What we build
- Financial models
- Budgets, forecasts and the business case for an investment, with every assumption on one sheet, several scenarios side by side, and a clear view of which assumption changes the answer most.
- Matching records
- Your bank against your books, invoices against orders and deliveries, or one system against another, matched line by line with every difference pointed out.
- Group accounts
- Several companies or branches, in different currencies, brought together in one set of accounts. Balances are converted at the rate on the closing date, and income and costs at the average rate for the period. Sales and debts between them are cancelled out, and every adjustment is shown.
- The real rules
- Payroll, commission and pricing worked out exactly as your business intends, including the tiers, the overtime and the awkward cases people remember differently.
- Up-to-date figures
- Data is brought in from your systems, statements, files and websites, tidied as it arrives and refreshed with one click. We use Excel, or Google Sheets when several people edit the file at once.
- Hard to break by accident
- Inputs, calculations and reports are kept on separate sheets, a bad date or an unknown product is refused as it is typed, and a check turns red the moment anything stops adding up.
What changes
- The sums at month-end are done before you start, so your time goes on the differences that need explaining.
- Every figure in a report can be traced to the transaction behind it.
A good fit when
- Month-end takes days, most of them spent checking one set of figures against another.
- Only one person understands the spreadsheet, and they are on leave.
- A change on one sheet breaks a total somewhere else, and nobody notices until later.
- A forecast or a tender is due, and the numbers behind it have to stand up to hard questions.
